. . .  just to add to the discussion. . .   I was Curator for 7 years at a
museum with 50,000+ objects, 2000 feet of archival materials, displayed in its
original historic house setting of  250 rooms, with a well cared for collection;
but because the organization is for-profit, many people would argue that it is
*not* a museum.  The dictionary, however, does not describe a museum as non
profit--that's an AAM definition.
