JOIN CELEBRATION OF NEW BUILDING AND SCULPTURE GARDEN


Round-the-Clock Preview Weekend Over Summer Solstice, June 21-23, 1996,
Kicks Off Inaugural Year of Major Exhibitions and Showcases New Galleries
for
Permanent Collection, Programs for the Public, Spacious Caf  and Store


June is the month for Chicago.  THE MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART (MCA) opens
its much-awaited new building in the heart of downtown Chicago with a
preview weekend of round-the-clock festivities.  Located at 220 E. Chicago
Avenue just off Magnificent Mile, the new MCA offers vistas of Lake
Michigan to the east and the historic Water Tower to the west.

Coinciding with the summer solstice, the opening celebrations give the
public its first look at the new MCA -- with its light-filled,
barrel-vaulted galleries and terraced outdoor sculpture garden --
featuring an exciting array of special exhibitions and collection
installations, caf , and book and design store.

Summer Solstice Celebration Weekend
Friday, June 21, 7:00 p.m. - Saturday, June 22, 7:00 p.m.
This round-the-clock marathon weekend begins a ten-day period of free
events, with ongoing musigural Events, call (312) 280-2660.

Sunday, June 23, 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
The weekend concludes with a special day of secial hands-on projects for

Regular Hours
Beginning Tuesday, July 2
The MCA (including caf  and store) is open 11:00 to 6:00 Tuesday, and
Thursday through Sunday and 11:00 to 9:00 Wednesday.  For General
