The World's Largest Children's Museum Offers Amazing Internships! (This is being posted to other lists, please excuse if duplicated :) The Children's Museum of Indianapolis, the largest and fourth oldest children's museum in the world, strives to offer the highest quality of non-traditional learning opportunities. The five-story brick museum houses ten major galleries exploring the sciences, history, foreign cultures, the arts, and the environment. In 1996, it will host over 1.3 million visits and open three new major exhibitions. The genius of Alexander Calder will be explored in "Calder's Art: A Circus of Creativity," ScienceWorks in the Dow Science Center takes science education to a whole new level and the IWERKS CineDome Theater will astound filmgoers. There's something to interest all visitors and any student looking for an internship. The Children's Museum offers non-compensated internships year-round to qualified college students and recent graduates. Interns are placed primarily in the Education, Programs, Collections, Exhibit Production, Marketing, Communications and Development departments. Opportunities to work wi th the public, design and implement activities, develop future job skills and discover the inner workings of a major musuem are abundant. Students from all majors and interests are encouraged to apply. Many summer positions are filled; however, fall internships are still available. Coming Soon: Subsidized intern housing! We are in the process of developing a paid graduate fellowship program open to recent graduates and graduate students. We have two to offer in 1996: 1. Public Art- a candidate is being sought to teach children basic photography and darkroom skills (6/96-8/96). Will probably result in a temporary exhibition. 2. Youth Speak Out-coordinate a temporary exhibition and work with children to display creations of youth (9/96-1/96). Apply now for both positions.
