>As the AAM 1996 meeting is rapidly approaching, I was wondering if >anyone knows of good diners or breakfast/lunch counters near the >convention. Expanding the culinary options beyond the Hilton may be >something others might be interested in as well! Some suggestions...within quick walking distance Found 2 variations on places to have breakfast and lunch near the Hilton.... A. The most "Minnesota" and downtown business mainstreet place would be Keys Cafe on Nicollet ave- 1007 Nicollet Mall- just one block west of the Hilton, and two blocks north of the Hyatt. Tighter seating, good food- even noticed a small espresso machine. Popular. Probably arrive early to que up for a table. B.Another choice- a skyway level self-serve place, low cost, decent food- regular big pot coffee. Called Mykennas Restaurant- located next building north on the skyway from the Hilton- pass thru the Kinnard Financial Center and on into the International Centre building lobby, past escalators, and just around the elevator banks to the right- it has big sunny non-smoking area- hidden a bit behind the cafeteria style ordering area- actually you can see the glass doors to the non-smoking area just on the other side of the elevators. Lots of space and tables to pull together to accomodate all....most informal.... C. Peters's Grill is a classic linch counter and dining place.... a bit further north- ask for directions. Dail homemade soups are a great choice .
