Just catching up with my mail and found this thread.
FWIW, take the museum studies courses!  If you EVER get involved with
collecting ANYTHING--tape recordings to field notes to carved masks--
curation begins with collecting.  Too many folks in the past have willy-
nilly gathered things up that later should be preserved for posterity and
they hand the curator a mess that has already lost at least some of its research
value.  You'll serve the future better if you know something about collection
management, even if you never work in a museum.
