On March 28 Doug Lantry wrote-

both environments: acquisition, conservation, study, interpretation,
display of objects?  Yes, they can and do."

The best example I've seen is the AIDS Memorial Quilt. It will again be
exhibited in its' entireity (all 42,000 panels made for individuals that have
died of AIDS) in October,1996 on the Capitol Mall. It will be handled in the
same way exhibitions are handled in a museum- audio tours, docent guided
tours, interpretive materials. If you want to make a panel for a colleague or
friend who has died of AIDS, deadline for submission of panels for this
exhibition is in May.
