On March 28 Doug Lantry wrote- "Can the following functions occur in both environments: acquisition, conservation, study, interpretation, display of objects? Yes, they can and do." The best example I've seen is the AIDS Memorial Quilt. It will again be exhibited in its' entireity (all 42,000 panels made for individuals that have died of AIDS) in October,1996 on the Capitol Mall. It will be handled in the same way exhibitions are handled in a museum- audio tours, docent guided tours, interpretive materials. If you want to make a panel for a colleague or friend who has died of AIDS, deadline for submission of panels for this exhibition is in May. Andrea Mugnier (volunteer, AIDS Memorial Quilt)
