Librarian/Archivist Immediate opening in AAM accredited institution for a person to manage the library and archivesof the McLean County Historical Society. Major responsibilities include the daily operation of an 8,000 volume research library and local history archives (800 l.f.). The Librarian/Archivist will: actively assist historical and genealogical researchers, continue OCLC conversion and cataloging, process archival materials, supervise student interns, oversee conservation of the collection, and work closely with an active genealogical society and volunteer program. The successful applicant will have a background in regional American history, knowledge of computers and their uses in libraries, and archival experience or training. Qualifications include an ALAMLS and previous work experience in a historical library and archives. A background and interest in local history and the ability to work with a diverse community is also important. This is a fulltime permanent position located in a community with two universities and an excellent quality of life. The position will pay annually in an initial range of $22,000 24,000, with excellent benefits (formal salary ranges are currently being adopted).
