The Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum Astronomy Department Educator Demonstration Program ( a full-time, exempt position) The Astronomy Department of The Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum is seeking an Educator, Demonstration Program. This position will report to the Manager of Education. The person in this position will be responsible for developing a full-scale floor demonstration program and for training, supervising, and evaluating demonstration volunteers. Responsibilities include development of astronomy demonstrations using the team approach and formative evaluation, working with educators and project managers to integrate demonstrations into school visits, exhibits and special events, and may include working with teen-age explainers. The work days are Wednesday through Sunday. This position requires a B.A. in education, science, museum education or a related field. An M.A. in science education is preferred. Three to five years experience with demonstration development and volunteer coordination in a museum or planetarium is required. Proven experience with starting a demonstration/volunteer program as well as with supervising a variety of ages and groups of volunteers is preferred.
