Where this topic started (I think) was when someone asked what sorts of
outside experience helped most in the actual work of being a museum
professional.  The first example given was retail sales, the next was
teaching.  I'd throw in carpentry!  But having a trust fund would really be
the most useful *thing* one could have.  (I've been a carpenter, a sales
rep. and a teacher; now if I could just get that trust fund I could work in
museums till the money runs out.)
