Dear Museumers After an absence of nearly three years, I am delighted to be back on the net and to be resubscribing to this discussion group. I am the Co-ordinator of the Creative Workshop of the South African Board of Jewish Education and we are currently mounting an exhibition to focus educationally on Jerusalem in its 3000th year of existence. Unfortunately I am joining this important discussion group quite late in the game, as the exhibition is scheduled to be opened to the public during March of this year. However, I am very keen to investigate any input on hands-on displays and interactive educational projects which you mount in your institutions. Our exhibition covers three levels on religious, geographical and physical strata, we have made reconstructions of the Western wall and Marc Chagall's windows of the twelve tribes, as well as a model of the Temple. We are also creating an archaeological dig in our basement area, a market place, three of the gates to Jerusalem and a whole barrage of barrel vaults. Together with the exhibition, we will be mounting about eight teachmasters which will feature trigger videos for discussion. The exhibition is geared specifically to the children who attend our schools. This means a range of ages from about 3 to about 18, and for the first time, our exhibition will also be opened to adult members of the public. Knowing the high calibre of professionalism on this list, I would be very appreciative of any assistance whatsoever which I may be able to obtain through you. I look forward to a long and happy relationship with Museums discussion list. ______________________________________________________________________________ Robyn Sassen Co-Ordinator of the Creative Workshop South African Board of Jewish Education P O Box 10 Cyrildene 2026 South Africa 2711 616 1019 [log in to unmask]
