Dear Ms.Elise Sherman I've read your e-mail on MUSEUM-L. I've quitted an automobile parts manu- facturer at the end of last year, and now am going to find a job in museum world. So I have no job and am a house husband. You may know the list for museum educators. That is MUSEUM-ED. The list-processor's address is "[log in to unmask]". You might've already subscribed. How to subscribe is same as MUSEUM-L. That is, yu write "SUBSCRIBE <Your firstname> <Your lastname> in a message body. That's all. I'm also interested in museum education and computer usage in a museum. In Japan, using computers in a museum is not so popular. Examples of using computers are as follows; 1) presenting quiz near exhibits 2) reviewing exhibits 3) reference 4) showing sights in the area I think it is not enough. The Internet isn't popular in Japan, too. The number of museums that have WWW site is under 20. Unbelievable!!! In Japan, curators is short to satisfy its roll, I think. So it is impossible to make their original WWW site. In Canada and the US, it is not as same as in Japan, I know. But I think using computers in museums is on a way to develop in North America. You must be able to develop it. I have an idea. When I have a job in a museum, I'll try to use computers as a kind of work sheets. IBM has made a small computer. It suggests possibility of realizing my idea. But a computer is one of tools in a museum. It is important point of view. Using computers are *NOT* a purpose. It's only one of ways of learing in a museum. My opinion is only an amateur's opinion. So you can neglect it. If you want to resond me, you can send me an e-mail directly or on this list.
