[sorry for cross-posting] Dear Subscribers, I'm finding a job in museum world now. And I'm interested in hands-on, museum education, evaluation of exhibit and program, museum marketing, psychology,... And I had a chance to meet a person in the National Science Museum, Tokyo. He gave information about establishing JMMA(Japan Museum Management Academy). I give you who related to a museum information of JMMA. And I'd like to hear your opinion and suggestion about that. It's a great help for me to deepen knowledge about things related to museums. And if needed, I'll send your information, opinion or suggestion to JMMA. The aim of JMMA is as follows (quoted from the JMMA leaflet); == The Aim of Establishment == Now Japan is facing turning points on many things. People's concious- ness switch over from richness of material to of culture and of spritual. And the cycle of life switches over from single-track type to double-track. And the education system switches over from school education centered to lifelong education. At the time of reform, a museum is strongly expected to contribute to develop a culture of life as a core facility of new culture and at the time of lifelong education. In order to meet such as social expectation and request, it is neccesary to revise how a museum exist drastically and to manage on meeting a new age. In Western contries, they have had study field that includes various fields, such as law, management, psychology, marketing, mass communication, etc. And the result is useful to a practical management of a museum and training person. Our academy is established to aim to make a loose(not tight) network among museums, the industrial world, related academies, the education world, etc. and to study museum management to meet social request, and to be useful to develop culture of life, on studying the success of Western contries. ========= It is responsible to me for it, because the original sentence is witten in Japanese and I tanslated into English. Any opinion, suggestion and information are grateful. When you'd like to state , send e-mail to me directly or post on the mailing list.
