I have a comment about gender vs gender-neutral names (which I've made before
on another list.  There have been some studies which indicate that students
tend to recall information better when the information is presented using
gender terms consistent with the reader's or listener's own gender.  That is,
male students recalled information better when they read "his" & female
students recalled information better when they read "her" in the text.
When you think aboutit, there are some very interesting implications to these
