Anita, Congratulations on a very nicely designed and user friendly site. I just saw your post, and only had 15 min to browse, but one suggestion comes to mind. I am posting it to the list because there seem to be several other sites with museum-related links, and I hope that you (and the others who produce such sites) will consider suggestions. I also hope that others will post suggestions to the list that will make such sites more fruitful for researchers, art historians, etc. My principal need for art historical research is to have access to: 1. Inventory lists of art museums. Ideally these would be searchable, and it would be very important that the entries be as complete as possible, to include full provenance, literature and exhibition histories, as well of the basic specifications such as size in inches and cm/mm, medium, condition, and (which is very important) any expertise on the works. 2. Digitized images of the inventory. For museums willing to do this but looking for inexpensive methods, there are (relatively) inexpensive methods 3. At your web site, you should indicate next to each name on the list of museums, which of the above are offered, so that users know, before going to a particular museum site, what to expect in terms of information and images. 4. It is very time-consuming to visit sites with the purpose of searching for items in inventory, and then find that the vast majority offer nothing of substance. Some museums may offer sites only for potential visitors with no research interests. Where research information is supplied, this should be indicated clearly.
