CALIFORNIA ACADEMY OF SCIENCES (San Francisco) POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT CHAIRPERSON AND CURATOR - DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION POSITION SUMMARY: This new position reports to the Director of Research, and is responsible for the leadership, management and development of the Academy's education and outreach programs. TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: - Lead Academy's formal and informal science education programs - Develop grant and other support resources - Interaction with public school systems in the San Francisco Bay Area - Supervise departmental staff - Work and serve a diverse education community, constituencies and programs of the Academy - Follow all Academy safety regulations - Other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - MS (Ph.D. preferred) - Teaching and/or administrative experience - Five plus years in staff supervision KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Experience in curriculum development - Must be a persuasive communicator with excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills - Accustomed to working with diverse groups of students and adults at all levels - Knowledgeable about grant writing and funding development - Track record of creativity in curriculum and program development - Interest in Natural Sciences - Knowledge of the San Francisco Bay Area school districts a plus COMPENSATION/BENEFITS: Salary negotiable, full time, excellent benefits.
