The Amistad Research Center's Musem operates as a discrete unit withing an archival facility. Its present holdings include the Aaron Douglas Collection, the AFAC Collection (African American Art) and the Victor Du Bois Collection of African Art. These collections contain works by 19th and 20th century African American artists such as Henry Ossawa Tanner, Richmond Barthe, William E. Artis, Sargent Johnson, William H. Johnson, Malvin Gray Johnson, Aaron Douglas, John T. Scott, Elizabeth Catlett, Edward Mitchell Bannister and an entire series of 41 tempera paintings by Jacob Lawrence. My position as Curator at this small institution is a newly created one and involves direct responsibility for creating museum operations policies (collections, exhibit, and funding development, registration, etc.) I could use some input from someone out there on your museum's policy for any of the above. My immediate needs are for formulating fee schedules for taveling exhibitions and loans (individual and group exhibits) of our collections. I'd be eternally grateful.
