Linda Kulik writes: "There are many models for generating exhibitons. The curator model is considered by many to be "old school" The exhibit should be a collaboration between content specialists, designers, interpreters, educators and evaluators and not just curator driven. When a good team works together it is able to use all of it's strengths to rise above and address all political issues." I beg to differ. For every political issue/problem a team exhibit development process avoids, it creates new ones. I am not cynical about this process, we use it at my institution and it works well for us. To paint it as anything other than another process with its own constraints and limitations is silly. Regarding political heat from outside the institution, it makes no difference what model for development is used. If someone (or some group) feels misrepresented by an exhibit, it matters not a bit to them that a team or a curator committed the crime. Aaron Goldblatt [log in to unmask]
