The original tour was granted approval from a Pennsylvania PROBATE judge in July of 1992. Barnes' will had stipulated that the paintings could not be loaned out to other institutions. Richard Glanton is the Philadelphia lawyer and president of the Barnes Foundation who challenged Barnes' will and argued in favor of touring in order to raise money to renovate the foundation's galleries. No doubt the transcripts of the court hearing would be interesting and provide many more details. I don't know if this is any help, but good luck to you. Teresa Acosta [log in to unmask]
