The current Ms. Magazine reports on 4 women from the Plains Art
Museum in Fargo, ND who created a travelling art gallery called
Rolling Plains in an 18-wheel truck (with funding from the NEA).
It visits small towns throughout North Dakota and Minnesota where
the truck is "in residence" for a week at a time. "... the gallery
is a never-say-die way of coping with the lack of art education
programs throughout the Midwest."

The May 3 New York Times reports on the recent ICOM conference
of the Arab museum world in Amman, Jordan and notes that "the
final recommendations of the 'research, ethics and legislation'
workshop ... call for museums to be 'a privileged forum of
transcultural exchanges' that 'should fight against all kinds
of extremism and promote tolerance.'"
