The Straus Center for Conservation and Technical Studies at the Harvard University Art Museums offers a one-year graduate-level training program in conservation. Although the Museums cannot offer a masters' degree because of Harvard arcana, the program is equivalent to that level and is very well-respected in the field. The Straus Center (recently renamed to honor a major benefactor) is the oldest conservation center in the country and has offered training in conservation since the late 1920's. For more information about the conservationof objects, contact Henry Lie, Director of the Straus Center and head objects conservator, at the Straus Center for Conservation, Harvard University Art Museums, 32 Quincy Street, Cambridge, MA 02138. Telephone: 496-1903. P.S. The next available openings will be in September 1995. - Fran Beane, Harvard University Art Museums, [log in to unmask]
