Dear Colleagues, Please post the following announcement: Dallas Museum of Art 1994/1995 GRADUATE INTERNSHIP IN VISUAL RESOURCES Made possible by The Eugene McDermott Education Fund THE DALLAS MUSEUM OF ART, through the help of the Eugene McDermott Education Fund, will award an internship in Visual Resource Librarianship for a twelve-month period beginning October 1,1994. This internship is intended for graduate students planning a career in museum librarianship or information services. The intern will serve as part of the Visual Resource Library staff and engage in all phases of slide and photography collection administration, including automated collection management, archival practices, cataloging, collection development, and public service. Interns will also work in the Museum's Collections Information Center. While the Museum does not guarantee employment in a visual resources setting after completion of the internship, this position can lead grant recipients to careers within the field. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should have completed at least one year of graduate art history, studio art, humanities, and/or library/information science coursework. Basic computer experience (ie. MS-DOS, word processing, databases, and use of online library catalogs) is essential, and a familiarity with photographic materials and processes is desirable. All applicants should have had some experience in information services or bibliographic or visual resource librarianship. Consideration may also be given to applicants who have completed a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and have some experience in information services or bibliographic or visual resource library work.
