I would like to thank James O Sullivan for posting the other side (or should I say an other side) of the Greene Museum and Collections controversy. The contrast between the public and professional concerns should be familier to most of us in the museum community. Standing on the outside of this issue (the Greene Museum) looking in, I have to wonder if the two sides have communicated their respective concerns to each other. The other question that comes to mind is: if part of a museum's role is to educate the public and the museum is a public institution is one not obliged to at least listen to the public view and possible learn from it? A concensus may never be reached but an understanding might. A neutral observer- Julianne Snider [log in to unmask] [log in to unmask]
