Hello everyone,
On behalf of the entire team, I would like to warmly invite you to join us this evening live from NYC via Zoom (7p ET / 4p PT) for our weekly free and interactive tour.
#126 Considering Art: Considering Home - featuring urgent work by Wangari Mathenge.
Wangari Mathenge's (she/her) Mindful of classical painting traditions, in which female bodies have often been objectified by the male gaze, Mathenge's canvases center women in spaces of quiet self-reflection and introspection. As the viewer becomes drawn into a world of saturated color and sumptuous detail, the paintings reveal themselves to be imagined worlds in which the subjects occupy realities of their own making.
In this tour, we embark on some close looking.
Together we ask: What do you see?
