When is a word “more” than a word?
Interpretive
writing needs to have a focus of releasing the main idea or concepts in a short
and memorable format – a great follow-up to the introduction to interpretation
course.
Course
topics and subjects the course covers:

Writing with interpretive themes and objectives.
- Writing
with relatable Tangibles and intangibles.

Active language – painting with words.

Provoke – Relate and Reveal (Tilden’s principles)

50 – 100 words for exhibits and outdoor panels - why?

You can work on actual writing projects you may have.
Course
resource materials you will receive include:
- My Interpretive Writers Textbook - is
included with the course.
- Army Corps of Engineers Interpretive
Graphic Standards Manual.
- UK Broads Authority Interpretive
Graphic Standards Manual
- Lots of interpretive writing samples
and resource handouts.
- Weekly Zoom chats about your
assignments with Prof. Veverka
Course details:
You
can begin the course at any time and work on the course assignments on your own
pace. Course assignments would be sent
as an e-mail attachment directly to Prof. Veverka for review and comments as
which time the next course unit with reading and homework assignments will be
sent to you.
You
may also work on this course with a team of
interpretive staff as well.
Upon
your completion of the course you will receive the course certificate of
completion – noting the CEU unit credits.
The
course goals/mission – to help you create memorable (and interpretive copy) for
outdoor panels, museum exhibit labels and other self-guiding interpretive
media.
