Position: Assistant Special Event Coordinator. Grant funded position, 200 hours to be completed between June and October 2022.
Location: Reston Museum. Certain aspects of position can be conducted remotely.
Hours: Part time. One week day and Saturdays
Pay: $14 per hour.
Responsibilities:
Assist with the creation and implementation of outreach programs and events including children’s activities for Saturday program and Lake Anne Cardboard Boat Regatta.
On Saturday mornings, operate table outside the museum hosting children’s activities (10 am to 12 pm)
Assist with preparation and day of tasks for the Lake Anne Cardboard Boat Regatta.
Operate table during other plaza Saturday events (10 am to 4 pm) (Ex: Pride Festival, Multicultural Festival).
Qualifications:
Must be able to work independently.
Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred experience creating and/or implementing programs and events.
Experience working in a museum a plus.
Supervision: Works directly under the Executive Director.

Position: Temporary/Part-Time Visitor Services Assistant position (June – December 2022.)
Hours: One week day & Saturdays. 10 am to 4 pm
Pay: $15.00 per hour.
Responsibilities:
Work front desk, greeting visitors and orienting them to Reston’s history. Answer visitor questions. Provide customer service.
Conduct in-store sales and assist with online shop orders, product inventory and processing. Operating POS includes encouraging and processing memberships, brick sales, and ticket sales.
Acts as a public-facing representative of the museum, remaining informed about its collection, exhibitions, and program offerings.
Answer phone calls / respond to general emails / research requests.
As time allows assist with creating/implementing visitor experiences (temp exhibits, take away materials, programs, etc.)
Assist with tidying up/cleaning museum as needed.
Responsible for opening and/or closing the museum.
Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.
Qualifications:
Preferred experience working at a front desk / museum /or retail position.
Strong organizational skills required.
Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be able to work independently.
Supervision: Works directly under the Executive Director.
