Marketing and Communications Intern

This position will work remotely for the duration of the internship; applicant must have reliable access to internet. Communication between Intern and NWHM staff will be conducted via telephone, email, and video conferencing.

The National Women's History Museum is seeking a highly motivated, creative, and detail-oriented intern to assist with the Museum's external affairs, communications, and marketing efforts.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Assist with writing, editing, and proofing editorial content for various audiences, including social media, print, and website
  • Support development of communications and marketing collateral
  • Conduct research that supports institutional communications and outreach, including programs, audience development, and partnerships
  • Assist with the development of the Museum’s quarterly magazine, A Different Point of View
  • Assist with the development of the Museum’s e-newsletters
  • Develop reports and information about social media and web analytics
  • Use media database to build lists and track publication efforts
  • Assist with the creation of infographics and other graphic content for social media
  • Collaborate with Museum staff on ideas for programmatic and communications-related content

Qualifications:

  • Current or recent upper-level undergraduate student in marketing, public relations, creative writing, or related field
  • Excellent attention to detail, and strong interpersonal, organizational, and writing skills
  • Knowledgeable about AP Style
  • Ability to conduct verifiable online research
  • Proficient in various software platforms, including Microsoft Word, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.
  • Graphic design experience and proficiency in Adobe PhotoShop and Canva a plus.
  • Must be motivated to work independently 
  • Passion for our mission and commitment to women’s representation and equality.

The internship will run between September 15, 2020 and December 11, 2020. Candidate must be able to work 20 hours per week for a total of 200 work hours over the course of the internship. Intern will receive a stipend of $1,000.
