London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Heritage Service is seeking to commission the production of a series of short films that will allow the public to engage with Valence House's heritage offer online. This work has been funded by the Arts Council England emergency Covid-19 funding stream, which aims to assist the heritage sector in continuing to engage with the public during lockdown. The video tours will be hosted on our website, www.valencehousecollections.co.uk<http://www.valencehousecollections.co.uk>, where people can engage with the historic buildings and collections online. The films will develop our online audience and meet the aims of the Arts Council's 'Let's Create' strategy to see as many people as possible engage with culture with a dynamic museum sector at its heart and ultimately the creation of a creative and cultural country.

Tenders are invited from film makers with a proven track record in producing attractive, stylish and engaging short films in the heritage sector. For more information and to receive the tender documents please email Karen Rushton on [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.

Scope of works

The film maker(s) will be required to produce a series of quality short films that are engaging and entertaining and introduce members of the general public to the heritage at the Valence House site. These should include a visitor point of view general tour of the site and museum building following a recommended route through the museum and focusing on one object of interest in each gallery; behind the scenes tours with collections staff in the museum store and cellars; an informational guide of how to use the archive and local studies centre; a site welcome video showing the measures in place for dealing with Covid-19. The latter would be produced as a priority in preparation for us re-opening the site.

The elements that are expected to be included (but are not limited to):
Interviews with staff on behind the scenes tours
Voice overs and subtitles where additional information is required
Suitable music
Sound effects

The work will include all post-production and editing work in order to produce a film that is ready for screening. All content will be uploaded to our website which aims to meet WCAG 2.1 accessibility requirements.
