Is this survey for the institutions renting the exhibition, or for visitors? Either way, is there any reason it has to be digital? It seems to me that developing a survey and providing the museum a hard copy for visitors to fill out/be guided through by an evaluator would be an easier route to take (the latter can be accomplished by a staff member, intern, or volunteer). You can have the institutions send the completed surveys to you, either by snail mail or digitally.

Good luck, Sarah!

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Affordable survey tools, no wifi required

Hello,

I'm a college faculty member working with a local museum to develop a small traveling exhibit. We are looking for a low budget application that will allow us to conduct a digital visitor survey without constant wifi. Some areas of our campus do not have good wifi--and our guess is that other locations the exhibit travels to will also have limited connectivity.

The survey will be part of a traveling exhibit so we will need the survey accessible for roughly a year. We have a small budget for this, but some of the sites I've found ask for $50 a month and that is not realistic.

Priorities:

  • Affordable application/membership (ideally under $300/year)
  • Works offline
  • Allows us to have up to 10 questions
  • Serviceable for one year

Have any of you found an application that seems like a good fit?

Thanks for your help,

Sarah Linden-Brooks
