Plexiglas rods would be best, with luck the available diameters coincide with your needs.  You can always wrap clear Mylar around a loose post to carefully snug up the mount

Concealing a red LED under each Plexiglas post would make them glow red, just a fun thought.  You could arrange a system where the visitor pushes a button to "launch" a particular rocket, for fun or as a way to tie artifacts to their specific descriptions or labels.  Might rig up a motion sensor to "launch" the rockets when visitors approach.

Have fun with it, and always listen to the conservator!

Subject: Re: [MUSEUM-L] mounting model rockets

I agree with Curtis's advice about using a round support that is attached to the base of the platform in the exhibit case that will fit inside the round base of the model rocket. As a conservator I would not use wood, which can contain acids that can corrode metals and damage other materials. I suggest making round supports from plexi tubes with square bases for mounting to the exhibit platform.

Cheers!

We have a number of model rockets. Some measuring @ 3' high. We want to display them standing upright under a Plexiglas case . Any recommendations of how to attach/ mount them to the base of the case so that they won't fall over if the case is knocked?

Thank you
