In June the ARCS board met in Philadelphia to plan for the future and to reflect on how far the organization has come in 7 years. The last of ARCS’ founding board members rolled off, and we would like to thank those four founding board members for their service: Jacqueline Cabrera, Jean Gilmore, Tamara Johnston, and Irene Taurins. We would like to recognize all of the founding board members (
), and thank them for their vision and for establishing such a solid foundation for ARCS.
We also welcomed new members Melissa Bechhoefer, Stephanie Lampkin, Elise LeCompte and Shannon White to the ARCS board. With new perspectives and expertise, our meeting focused on the future of ARCS with a review of the new strategic plan. In the next couple of months we will share with you the strategy and how we plan to implement this on behalf of the field. Tecker International has worked with us to provide exceptional guidance on developing an implementation plan and understanding your needs. Be on the look-out for upcoming surveys - we want to hear about how ARCS can best support your professional growth.
As a first step in implementation, the board approved a committee restructuring that will enable us to provide more programming and learning opportunities. ARCS needs you! We are seeking members who would like to join a committee or task force, and help shape the growth of ARCS. If you are interested in joining a committee or task force, please let us know at
[log in to unmask]. More information will be forthcoming about these new committees and volunteer opportunities where you can take the lead on behalf of your peers.
And the Conference Committee (
