There are still spaces available in Helping Puerto Rican Heritage (HPRH). However, the registration deadline is December 1, so time is of the essence. HPRH has been organized voluntarily by Marc Williams, AIC Fellow based on the US mainland, and Cesar Pineiro, AIC PA, based in San Juan, Puerto Rico. We have been working together for more than 30 years on various conservation initiatives. We realized from the beginning that conservation training and knowledge in Puerto Rico has lagged behind much of the rest of the world, and have established Helping Puerto Rican Heritage to begin to remedy this. Our efforts will be focused in two general directions, educational opportunities in conservation in Puerto Rico, and offering advice on collections preservation and care to museums and historic sites, including an "Angels"-type project at an historic house museum. Registration in Helping Puerto Rican Heritage is open to all graduates of recognized masters degree conservation programs, as well as AIC Professional Associates and Fellows or equivalent international professional designations. Due to space constraints, only 30 participants can be accommodated. Registration is first-come, first-served. Once the project is filled, openings will be available only through cancellations. We will hold open 5 of the slots for students. Priority will be given to graduate students in a conservation program, followed by pre-graduate (post BA/S) interns. If spaces still remain, undergraduates will be considered.

We want to have a wide range of specialties and experiences represented. Our hope is that this will not all be tedious "work", but will also provide opportunities to relax, explore, and forge new connections and friendships. For an application, please email Marc at [log in to unmask].
