The Museum at Bethel Woods Announces

2018 Summer Collections Internship

About The Museum at Bethel Woods

The Museum at Bethel Woods interprets the music and cultural impact of the 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Fair within the context of the social, political, and popular culture history of the decade of the 1960s. Opened in June 2008, the museum is part of Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, a $100 million facility located in Sullivan County, New York, approximately 90 minutes from New York City. Through the museum’s exhibits and programs, and through musical performances in the 16,800-seat outdoor performing arts pavilion, and 400-seat indoor event gallery, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts inspires, educates, and empowers individuals through the arts and humanities.

About the Internship Program

Description

The Summer Collections Internship is a ten-week internship. Placement begins in June and ends in mid-August (there is some flexibility with dates). Intern works closely with museum staff on hands-on, meaningful projects—cataloguing, photographing, researching, numbering, and storing accessions,  working with loans and research requests, assisting with special exhibitions—and gain experience in the operation of a mid-size museum. Work weeks are typically 40 hours, Monday through Friday and may also include assisting with education programs and working the museum floor. The Curatorial Internship pays a stipend of $5,000; local room, board, and transportation will be the intern’s responsibility.

Eligibility

The 2018 Summer Collections Internship is available to graduate students enrolled in a museum studies, American civilization, public history, or similar program in United States colleges or universities.
