Position Description:

Reporting to the Director of Government and Institutional Giving, the
Executive Grants Writer is responsible for writing proposals for both
unrestricted operating revenue and restricted projects and for submitting
timely and accurate reports for all existing grant funded projects.

The Bronx Museum of the Arts, founded in 1971, is the sole visual arts
museum in the Bronx involved in re-envisioning the role of museums in
contemporary society. The Museum addresses the changing needs of its
diverse constituencies while standing at the forefront of scholarly
discourse, museum practices, and innovative public programs. The Museum has
an annual operating budget of $3.2 million and a 5-year strategic plan to
double its budget by growing contributed and earned income revenue streams.

The Bronx Museum serves approximately 100,000 visitors annually through a
broad range of exhibitions, events, seminars, educational and community
outreach programs. The Museum is a member of the Cultural Institutions
Group in New York City (CIG). In May 2016, the Museum announced plans for
an architectural upgrade that will result in more space for public programs
and exhibitions. To achieve this goal, the Museum launched a $25 million
capital campaign ($15 million capital and $10 million in endowment).

Responsibilities:

 Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to
prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate
sources.

 Perform prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate
prospects for corporate and foundation grants.

 Work with program and finance departments to gather information necessary
to report to corporate/foundation funders on current grant programs.

 Comply with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate
donors.

 Provide stewardship to current donors as well as written updates (e.g.,
newsletters) to corporate and foundation donors.

 Understanding of institutional history and programs.

 Prepare budgets, expense reports, and additional supporting materials in
collaboration with programs and finance departments

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and two to three years of grant writing experience is
required. Demonstrated success in securing foundation and corporate grants.
Graduate degree in a relevant field and familiarity with fundraising data
base software (DonorPerfect) preferred. Availability to work occasional
nights and weekends necessary. Experience in interacting and liaising with
donors, including foundations, corporations and government agencies is
preferred.

Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits include minimum of 12 days
