Museum Marketing Internship - Fall 2017

Fraunces Tavern Museum's mission is to preserve and interpret the history of the American Revolutionary era through public education. The Museum was founded in 1907 by Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York, Inc. Housed in historic Fraunces Tavern, the permanent collection focuses on 18th and 19th century buildings, period rooms, prints, paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, and manuscripts relating to or reflecting aspects of early American culture and history. Also included in the collection are items associated with the history of the Sons of the Revolution of the State of New York.

The Marketing Intern will spend the semester under the guidance of the Marketing Coordinator working to develop and execute new communication and marketing strategies to increase the Museum's effectiveness in engaging with visitors and members of the media. This is also a fantastic opportunity to play a role in the Museum's re-branding process, and help build and grow a newly established marketing department in a small non-profit institution.
The Intern's duties will include:

*         Assist with routine website updates and maintenance

*         Help develop content for the Museum's website and social media channels

*         Help design and plan digital and print collateral

*         Perform research related to marketing and PR opportunities on both a local and national level

*         Perform research related to digital marketing initiatives: social, email, and paid search

*         Carry out maintenance and building of email lists and databases

*         Maintain press coverage database and compile press clippings book

*         Copyediting across multiple platforms and various collateral
Qualifications:

*         Must be recent college grad or currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.

*         A solid Early American, Colonial American, Revolutionary War, or New York City history a plus, but not required.

*         Experience working with e-communications, web-publishing (SquareSpace) helpful but not required

*         Excellent written skills and attention to detail
