The Mississippi Department of Archives and History (MDAH) seeks a Historic
Resource Specialist III to administer the museum’s educational programs for
the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum. The position involves developing
educational materials and creating educational experiences and programs
that embody the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum’s mission to share stories
and promote a greater understanding of the Mississippi movement. The
incumbent reports directly to the Director of the Mississippi Civil Rights
Museum.

The Museum seeks a highly motivated, energetic museum education
professional who will be responsible for the coordination of the Museum’s
education programs.
The incumbent in this position will be responsible for planning and
implementing in-school and on-site educational programs. Deepen
participation of visitors by producing dynamic and collaborative
programming that integrate a broad range of diverse community stakeholders.
Develop and implement programs and resource materials for K-12 teachers and
students and Digital Learning programs. Establish, strengthen, and maintain
partnerships with K-12 teachers and students. Assist in designing and
conducting training programs for Ambassadors and interns.
Education and experience must meet the following criteria:
• Master’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university, and
one (1) year of experience in a field acceptable to the employing authority.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university, and
(2) years of experience in a field acceptable to the employing authority.
• Experience with community outreach and developing relationships with
cultural, educational, and social organizations.
• Demonstrated ability in the successful development and maintenance of
school and community partnerships.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with
close attention to detail.
• Collaborate with appropriate divisions to create promotional materials
for school and educator programs.
• Flexible with a positive outlook and a passion for Mississippi’s rich
Civil Rights History.
• Evening and weekend work required.
• Other duties deemed necessary
