Pennsylvania State Civil Service Exams Open for Museum Curators in both History and Archeology

The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) announces the opening of State Civil Service Commission (SCSC) tests—for various levels of Museum Curators in the History collection and for various levels of Museum Curators in the Archeology collection. We expect to have openings within the next few months for curators in both history and archeology at the State Museum, and in history for the Bureau of Historic Sites and Museums main office, at the PA Lumber Museum, and at the PA Military Museum.  PHMC may only hire from the State Civil Service lists, so you must pre-qualify with SCSC to be considered for an interview. Please be sure to take note of ending dates and other instructions.  A link to the test announcement and exam documents is below.

MUSEUM CURATORS:

The State Civil Service Exam for Museum Curator History and Museum Curator Archeology in the PA Historical and Museum Commission system (www.patrailsofhistory.com) is now open. There are a number of vacancies listed in the announcement (Dauphin County, Potter County, Centre County, Lancaster County), but you must be on the civil service list to be eligible for these and any future openings as well.  Pennsylvania residency is NOT required at the time of application for these positions. The exam is open now through November 18, 2017 and may not be open again for some time.  Lists for the current vacancies are likely to be requested before November. So why wait?
