Kayla, Have you had an consultants on this HVAC project? If not, you really do need a knowledgeable conservator and engineer who is well versed in HVAC issues in historic houses. There are myriad things to consider, from the materials and integrity of the building envelope, ducts, anticipating potential condensation issues, to seasonal set-points and ramping, along with a collections protection plan during installation and the first weeks of getting the new system going. If you don't already have a consultant I highly recommend Wendy Claire Jessup who is highly experienced in these issues. http://www.collectioncare.com/ Cheers! We are in the process of implementing a new HVAC system for a Georgian-style (1780s) historic house museum. The museum is located in the Mid-Atlantic, which experiences fluctuating temperatures and humidity levels depending on the season. Has anyone recently gone through this process and have any suggestions or recommendations of what to look for and/or what not to do when putting in an HVAC into a historic house? Thanks in advance!
