Hi Leonard,

Take a look at Art Guard (http://www.artguard.net/).  They have a number of applications available for alarming collections without being intrusive.

You might also contact Layne Consultants for advice (http://www.layneconsultants.com/).  Steve Layne is very knowledgeable in museum security and would be willing to talk with you about things to consider.

Hope this helps.

Hi All,

I am hoping someone can advise on electronic security devices that you utilize to further protect your loans and collections on exhibition. I am trying to create an invisible barrier that will sound an alarm if guests get too close to objects.  We have been having a difficult time lately with guests interacting with objects they shouldn't and I am looking for alternatives to putting everything under a vitrine or behind stanchions.  Our institution rotates 10 galleries 3x/ year and I am hoping to find something that our preparators can reconfigure/ reposition as they do.

Any suggestions on equipment or companies I can consult will be greatly appreciated.  I am in Wisconsin if that helps, but am willing to talk to anyone for more options.

Thanks in advance.

Leonard
