Updated info on vacancies for Museum and Historic Site Administrators list: we expect to have openings within the next few months for Historic Site Administrators at Eckley Miners’ Village, at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg, and at Landis Valley Village and Farm Museum in Lancaster.  PHMC may only hire from the State Civil Service lists, so you must pre-qualify with SCSC to be considered for an interview.

MUSEUM EDUCATORS:

The State Civil Service Exam for Museum Educators in the PA Historical and Museum Commission system (www.patrailsofhistory.com) is now open. There are two current vacancies listed in the announcement (Erie County and Luzerne County), but you must be on the civil service list to be eligible for any future openings as well. The exam is open until May, but lists for the current vacancies are likely to be requested sooner than that. So why wait?

ARCHIVISTS:

The Pennsylvania State Civil Service Commission has announced that the Archivist title is  available for application.  There are 3 vacancies are anticipated at the Pennsylvania State Archives over the next year  and potential applicants must be on the Commonwealth's civil service list to be considered.  The test closes February 25, 2017 and may not be open for some time.  Vacancies will be filled in the Winter 2017; get on the list early.

Pennsylvania residency is NOT required at the time of application for these positions.
