Anticipated duration of internship: 3 months, 500 hours.  Start date: January; however, schedule is flexible.  Must be completed by June 30, 2017.

Rate of Pay: $14.00/hr for graduate student;  $12.00/hr under graduate student




Summary of Work






Assist Museum Division staff in producing an exhibit commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Civilian Conservation Corps and Works Progress Administration in North Dakota and the opening of the Chateau Demores as a State Historic Site. This exhibit will be up for 3-5 years at the Chateau Interpretive Center and it will subsequently travel to other state historic sites. The intern will help with selecting and preparing artifacts, content research, writing label copy, schematic exhibit design, mount making, and exhibit installation. The intern will also have a chance to work on a variety of supporting tasks including collections management, registration methods, and museum exhibit fabrication related activities.




Duties and Tasks






The intern will be an integral part of the development and installation of the exhibit.  One of the primary tasks will be to research and produce a short media piece for the exhibit using archival images and recorded oral histories




Student Requirements






Applicant must be a student with a major in Museum Studies, Public History, Art, Graphic Design, or related field.

To be eligible for a North Dakota State Government Stipend Student Internship, a student:

  *   Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical program in the United States, and
  *   Must be a current full-time student, as defined by that school, in the semester or quarter in which he/she applies for internship, and
  *   Must be able to receive academic credit for the internship, and
  *   Must be at least of sophomore standing by the beginning of the internship (or must have completed the first year of a vocational/technical program by the beginning of the internship), and
  *   Must have a cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
