Hi Everyone!

Wondering what you can do to help get more natural history collections data digitized?

The Worldwide Engagement for Digitizing Biocollections (WeDigBio) Event kicks off this week from October 20-23. Citizen scientists are teaming up with researchers and other participants around the world to capture biodiversity specimen data--digitizing the information for scientific research, education, and policy. Participants can pick a project in which to participate online (https://www.wedigbio.org/find-a-project) or find an in-person event at museums and universities around the globe (https://www.wedigbio.org/event-list).

Last year, thousands of participants from >150 countries completed >50K transcription tasks! We're out to beat those records this year!

Learn more here: https://www.wedigbio.org

Anyone can join us at _any point_ from _any place_ from Thursday to Sunday - there are opportunities to participate with transcription platforms Notes from Nature (https://notesfromnature.org), Les Herbonautes (lesherbonautes.mnhn.fr/), the Australian Museum’s DigiVol (digivol.org), Smithsonian Institution Transcription Center (https://transcription.si.edu/) and UIowa's DIY History (https://diyhistory.lib.uiowa.edu/eggcards). Specimens include a wide range of taxa (insects, plants, birds, marine inverts, paleo), time periods, and geographies.

Highlights and photos will be posted to Twitter and Facebook: #WeDigBio

Best and thanks for sharing!,
