The Smithsonian American Art Museum is seeking applications for a full-time permanent curator of graphic arts to oversee a collection of approximately 25,000 prints, drawings, and watercolors that date from the 18th century to the present. The graphic arts curator will be expected to develop annual installations featuring the graphic arts collection; propose and implement groundbreaking exhibition projects with wide public appeal; nurture relationships with collectors, donors, and dealers that lead to acquisitions by gift and purchase; and publish significant research in the field of American graphic arts. The successful candidate must be able to think imaginatively and creatively and have strong organizational skills as well as public speaking experience.

An M.A. in American Art History or related field is desirable; a Ph.D. is preferred. A successful track record of conceiving permanent collection installations, organizing significant exhibitions, and researching and writing catalogues or essays is a must.
