Hello Rachael:

The STEPS program can be of great benefit to an organization. There is minor cost involved that your board will consider, but it won’t break the bank.  If your organization is an AASLH institutional member (required) and pays $175 fee, all materials will come to you with  support available for the at-your-own-pace program. Have seen the materials and can see the benefit in establishing or updating organizational and board policy, etc.  As a lure for grants… that depends on the granting agency and how well your staff can write application materials. 

 

We are AASLH institutional members, but not STEPS participants. Our organization is well established, maintains Museum Standards, reviews and updates policy each year and has been awarded many grants.
