Introduction to the Museum Profession

This course is an introduction to the museum world for Emerging Museum Professionals (EMP’s) who are completely new or have worked in the industry for fewer than five years. During this course, you will learn about the history and function of museums and the different professions within  museum work and their roles, and techniques to getting your foot in the door. Some of the topics discussed are; exhibitions, collections, museum education, administration, volunteering, internships, mentoring, and more! One day of the class will be spent visiting working museums in the area to get a behind-the-scenes look at museum work in action.
