TAX EXEMPTION

Just thought I would share my experience with tax exempt status and Priceline. Most of the time when it comes to getting the tax exemption, I have found that you need to make a purchase first so agents can see an invoice, then call and they refund the tax after giving them the number or faxing them our certificate.

This is NOT THE CASE with PRICELINE! DO NOT book a hotel, car, flight or any other thing on PRICELINE, if you want to maintain low costs with your tax exempt status. They were rude, hung up on the call and refused to refund the tax… stating it was their policy and that they could not do it. They could do it – just chose not to refund the tax.

So, as I made it clear to them that if they did not resolve this matter, I would make it known to the museum community. I gave them several opportunities to make it right and spoke to two supervisors.
