Are you a student about to enter the museum field?

You should attend MPMA's 2016 EMP Orientation!

 

Pass this note along to an emerging professional, will ya? 

What is an EMP? Who is this orientation for?

It's for YOU.  EMP stands for Emerging Museum Professional.  This orientation is just for EMPs like you who want to get into the museum field.

Are you starting to wonder what happens after graduation? How will you get a job or internship? How should you dress? What should you look for in an institution? Who do you ask for help?

This orientation - held at MPMA's annual conference - will help you answer these questions and build a professional network.  

You will have the chance to talk to museum directors to find out what they look for in potential employees.  You will talk to recently graduated EMPs to learn how they landed their first museum job.  

ALSO:  One-on-one resume counseling will provide you customized assistance just for a museum job.

You will make friends with others attending this EMP orientation.  They will help you "get out there" during the MPMA conference to meet potential employers and mentors.  You will NOT be alone during the conference.  You will meet buddies at the orientation.  The EMP Orientation is a great way to attend a professional conference.

DATE AND LOCATION

When:     Monday, October 24th- 12:00 to 3:40

Where:   The EMP Orientation is part of MPMA's 2016 Conference.  Conference Hotel (Pre-registration required / Lunch provided!)

MPMA's 2016 Conference will be held in Oklahoma City, October 23-27, 2016. The EMP Orientation will occur at the beginning of the conference.  To attend the EMP Orientation, you must register for the conference.   MPMA's 2016 conference registration opens in late May.
