STARTING ANNUAL SALARY: $29,500.00

This position involves work of a professional nature serving as an educator and historian for the Museum Division. The education historian is responsible for researching and development of educational materials, student programs, and teacher trainings based on Mississippi history. Duties will also include but are not limited to; assisting in the development of educational materials and programs, working with teachers, school groups, conducting tours and coordinating and supervising volunteers.  Incumbent works under the general supervision of the Director of Education.

Additional responsibilities include: assisting with the development of special tours and programs for students, volunteer materials, as well as the research and development of outreach programs, distance learning programs and materials, and public programming planning for the opening of the 2 Mississippi Museums.

Education and experience must meet one of the following criteria:

 

 

Preferred qualifications include:  The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills (oral and written), experience in public speaking, ability to perform archival research and administrative tasks, excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint Etc.).  The incumbent must be able to lift 50 lbs., stand for extended periods of time, climb steps/ladders, lead groups, work outdoor events, and conduct tours.
