Volunteer & Event Coordinator

            The Molly Brown House Museum seeks an energetic and creative full-time staff member to serve as the Volunteer & Event Coordinator. The Volunteer & Event Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, training, scheduling, and daily management of the Museum’s corps of more than 50 volunteers, who serve as docents and event staff.  The Volunteer & Event Coordinator is also responsible for scheduling and managing part-time paid docents.  This position requires a substantial amount of contact with staff, volunteers, and members of the general public to include giving Museum tours on a regular basis.

            This position is also responsible for the Museum’s regularly scheduled, year-round event programming.  This primarily includes taking reservations, both by phone and on-line, and coordinating public and private events hosted at the Museum, including Victorian dinners, luncheons and teas. This position is responsible for all event set-up and break down, catering, and volunteer staffing of events. This position will also be expected to work all events as coverage is needed.

Physical/Mental Requirements:

            This position requires walking or standing to a significant degree. This position requires using multiple flights of stairs to a significant degree. This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Other physical demands associated with the essential functions include reaching, handling, talking and/or hearing (ordinary conversation) and seeing (near and far acuity, depth perception, field of vision, accommodation and color vision).

            Required are the abilities to apply principles of logic or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; to interpret a variety of technical instructions in various forms; to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; to utilize spatial, visual and tactile discrimination; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and volunteers, supervisory staff, other organizations and agencies, and the general public.
