Curtis, hi. We are looking at replacing some of our older fluorescent tube lighting and track lighting with LEDs. You said you settled on 2700K. Can you say why? We are trying to determine what color temperature to go with, balancing enough illumination (cooler?), a good "feel" for visitors (warmer?), and the least damaging. Presumably it is also possible to use different temp bulbs in different spots -- like illuminating the stairs vs. directed on an exhibit case.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks!

Hello Ryan,

We recently replaced the R30 lamps in our track light system with LED units
from Green Creative.  The factory rep arranged for us to do a "try it before
you buy it" deal with a local distributor.  We were able to test drive 20
lamps to make sure they would work with our existing dimmers, and to sample
various color temps (we settled on 2700K).  We're currently looking to
replace the fluorescents  in our office spaces, still taking bids on that
project.
We even got a nice rebate from the power company--the new equipment has to
be either Energy Star or DLC certified to qualify for rebates in most cases.

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] LED Lighting Systems

Hello All,

We are looking at changing out our lighting system. We installed an LED rail
system when LEDs were still a young technology and, unfortunately, it has
been disappointing. We recently changed the rail system in one of our
exhibit areas with LED panels from Amerlight. The panels look great, fully
illuminate the case and the dimmers allow us to achieve exactly what we are
looking for in each case. However, our communications with reps at the
company have been unsatisfactory. I was curious to hear what LED systems
y'all use and their parent companies and how things have been with them. Any
links you want to share would be appreciated!

Thanks
