John Jay Homestead State Historic Site in Katonah, NY is currently seeking a Collections Manager.  Responsibilities include:

 

•         Oversee collection of 35,000 items including: fine art, furniture, decorative art, and archival material.

•             Oversee all collections volunteers and interns

•             Create and implement a comprehensive historic housekeeping plan

•             Working with centralized collections management unit on long term collections project which includes:

o             accessioning and deaccessioning

o             collections photography

o             digitization

•             Interface with conservation specialists

•             Work with other site staff to research, write, and design rotating exhibits.

•             Assisting with interpretation as needed.

•             Other duties as assigned.

 

Weekends, some nights and holidays required. 30 hours/week. $13.82/hour non-negotiable. Must have previous experience with collections, historic research and interpretation.  Must be comfortable in a supervisory role.
